Parent–Child Forest Experience (Ages 0–4)

Our Parent–Child Forest Experience is designed for young children ages 0–4, and their caregivers to explore the outdoors together in a gentle, supportive, and relationship-centered setting. Caregivers remain present for the entirety of the experience, participating alongside their child while educators guide the group’s rhythm and learning.

Each gathering follows a predictable, unhurried flow that supports connection, curiosity, and comfort—especially for younger children. Families enjoy easy hikes to a shared base camp, free play, nature exploration, songs, stories, seasonal activities, and moments of rest and observation. There is no campfire, and activities are intentionally designed to be accessible for a wide range of ages and developmental stages.

Learning is guided by a learner-focused curriculum, meaning children are not expected to follow set lessons. Instead, educators observe children’s interests and respond in the moment—supporting exploration, early social skills, sensory development, and a growing relationship with the natural world. Caregivers are encouraged to follow their child’s lead while educators model supportive, respectful engagement.

All staff are intentionally trained for this experience by our Education Coordinator, who holds degrees in education and brings years of experience working with children and families. Guides maintain certifications in basic CPR and First Aid, are mandated reporters, and are trained in Nonviolent Communication, helping create a calm, inclusive, and emotionally supportive environment for both children and adults.

This experience is especially well-suited for families seeking meaningful outdoor time, gentle structure, and a community-centered approach to early childhood, where connection, presence, and wonder come first.
